Onyx Overdrive

If you are looking for a sonic diamond-in-the-rough, the Schu-Tone Onyx overdrive is what you are after!  Based on the revered Fender amps of the 1960’s the Schu-Tone Onyx is a sonic sculpter, capable of taking you back in time.  The heart of the Onyx is the three-band EQ system.  It is based off of the same tone-stack you would find in a blackface Fender amp.  The controls work and interact with each other just like they would if you were playing through a 22, 40 or 100 watt amp.  The bass and treble controls allow you to dial in the perfect amount of high and low end, they are capable of fine-tuning the sound of your amp to the sound in your head.  The Mid control adds a little bit of body and presence to your sound, helping it cut through a little.  These controls all work together, so a little change goes a long way.  Where the Onyx shines is in the Gain and Volume controls.  Unlike a 100-watt amp where you need to clear the neighbors out, the Schu-Tone Onyx allows you to get that cranked, overdriven tone at a much lower volume.  Go from a warm clean sound with the gain around 10, or full on dirty lead with the gain turned all the way up.  The Boost switch is like a hot-rodded version of the amps.  When the switch is on, it adds an additional gain stage to the front of the amp, allowing you to really get into those creamy overdriven tones at manageable volumes.  If you want the sounds of a 60’s amp, but don’t want to carry one around, the Schu-Tone Onyx is your answer!
